Position Title: Educator
Position Summary: EmpowerEd is a nonprofit private school in Rapid City that provides a collaborative, diverse, and holistic education for school aged kids. Given the nature of EmpowerEd’s learning environment, we are seeking full and part time educators who are creative, adaptable, and collaborative. A successful candidate demonstrates:

Responsibilities and Duties:
Design and implement lessons for school aged kids to learn on a variety of topics.
Collaborate with kids, staff, volunteers, families, and board members as appropriate to promote a positive, holistic, collaborative, diverse, and dynamic learning environment.
Interact with kids, families, staff, volunteers, and others with respect.
Communicate in a timely manner (within 24 business hours) via a variety of platforms (in person, phone, email, Remind, etc).
Document the growth and learning experiences of kids for internal and external reporting.
Promote a safe learning environment both on and off campus. Be familiar with all safety measures. Provide basic first aid (be certified). Maintain awareness of kids’ location and state of being. Monitor other people who interact with the kids during school.
Clean and tidy the spaces used each day. Model and encourage respectful use of space with the kids.
Participate in professional development opportunities and staff meetings.
Attend promotional events and participate in the admissions and recruiting processes.
Co-create culture and problem solve with kids and colleagues.
Qualifications and skills:
Training in traditional or alternative teacher preparation programs.
Experience in teaching youth is preferred.
Must respect, trust, and enjoy being around kids.
An unqualified belief that every young person can improve the human condition.
Demonstrated love of learning.
Ability to lead by example, demonstrate servant leadership, and model responsible and respectful use of power.
Ability to function at a high level in spite of chaos or uncertainty.
Commitment to personal improvement and professional excellence.
Ability to work with little or no supervision.
Must pass background checks.
Salary and Benefits:
Full time salary starting: $30,000-$50,000 depending on experience and enrollment.
Part time salary starting: $14-$22 per hour depending on experience and enrollment.
Retirement: 2% of salary paid by the employer.
